Nominate a Heritage Tree

Fort Worth's Heritage Tree Campaign invites residents and tree enthusiasts to nominate their cherished trees for heritage designation. Trees must grow within the city limits and meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • possess unusual size, age, species significance or other characteristics that contribute to its heritage status

  • be located on a historic site or contribute to the history of a site

  • enjoy notoriety

  • serve as a well-known landmark

  • contribute to significant community ties.

The goal of city foresters is to designate 100 heritage trees in honor of the Parks and Community Services Department's Centennial. A judging panel will evaluate each nomination, and those selected as heritage trees will be announced at the city's 2009 Arbor Day ceremony in April. For more information about the Forestry Section or to get a Heritage Tree Campaign nomination form, call 817-871-5738 or visit www.fortworthforestry.com.
